- Prevents anthracycline-iron free-radical formation
- Distinct from systemic iron-overload chelators
- Chelates intracellular iron → prevents anthracycline-iron free-radical formation
- Cardioprotection during anthracycline therapy; also inhibits topoisomerase II
- Distinct from systemic iron-overload chelators

- Dexrazoxane — Iron-chelating cardioprotectant for anthracyclines; a separate use rescues anthracycline extravasation.
