FMN cofactor: Complex I
FMN cofactor: Complex I — mechanism card
- Entry point of NADH electrons into the respiratory chain
- Derived from riboflavin (vitamin B2)
- Riboflavin → FMN, the electron-entry flavin of Complex I (NADH → ubiquinone)
- First stop of the respiratory chain; riboflavin deficiency shows up as energy-pathway failure
Drugs with this mechanism (1)
- FMN — Riboflavin-derived redox cofactor; accepts electrons in mitochondrial complex I and other flavoprotein reactions.
