- ↓ beta-1,3-glucan synthesis → weakens the fungal cell wall
- Fungicidal for Candida, fungistatic for Aspergillus
- No human counterpart to the target → notably clean
- Blocks fungal cell wall glucan synthesis
- Fungicidal against Candida; no human counterpart to the target

- Caspofungin — IV echinocandin for invasive candidiasis; glucan-synthase blocker with little renal toxicity.
- Micafungin — Echinocandin blocking fungal glucan synthesis; no human target equivalent.
