Pronunciation: vor-i-KON-a-zoel (VEE-fend)
Mechanism of action: Voriconazole ballicule
Visual mnemonic: Voriconazole mascot“Vortex cone V-fender” Multi-CYP inhibitor
What it is Triazole inhibiting fungal CYP51; invasive aspergillosis.
Why this one It is first-line for invasive aspergillosis and penetrates the CNS and eye.
What limits it Non-linear kinetics with CYP2C19 variation demanding level monitoring. Visual disturbance, photosensitivity with skin cancer, and periostitis.
Molecular structure: Voriconazole
